The Tide’s Ultimate Tailgate Food

Food and football go together like peanut butter and jelly (which also makes a great kid-friendly treat for tailgates). If you’re cheering on the Crimson Tide, you’re also burning calories – and delicious dishes give you the fuel you need to fan on.

Of course, some foods work better for tailgating than others, and every fanbase has their favorites. Traditional tailgate menus can include everything from basic BBQ and burgers to gameday gumbo and even fried alligator (but only when we’re playing Florida). Sprinkled through it all are amazing appetizers and scrumptious sides that make excellent pre- and post-game snacks.

If you’re looking for a tasty tidbit for your next Tide tailgate, here are a few of our favorite Roll Tide recipes.

Football Dip

Fantastic Football Dip

Just five simple ingredients tossed into a crockpot makes this creamy, cheesy dip a spectacular choice for your starting line-up. Serve it with your favorite tortilla chips for a finger-lickin’ fan favorite!

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Ground Sausage
  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 16 ounces Velveeta Cheese (cubed)
  • 1 10-ounce can of Rotel
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese (cubed)

Directions

  1. Brown ground beef and ground sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink. Remove from heat and drain excess grease.
  2. Spray a 4 to 6-quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Add cooked beef and sausage, Velveeta cheese, cream cheese, and Rotel. Stir well until combined.
  3. Cook on high heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the cheeses are completely melted and creamy. Serve with your favorite tortilla chips.

Chicken Drumsticks

Crispy chicken drumsticks are a football favorite because they’re easy to make and can please the whole crowd. Grill them to perfection on one of our Wolfe grills for top-of-the-line taste!

Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds Chicken Drumsticks
  • 2 Teaspoons Garlic Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • BBQ Sauce

Directions

  1. Preheat your grill to 375-400 degrees F.
  2. Season drumsticks with garlic salt and pepper, coating each one on all sides.
  3. Grill on direct heat, flipping every 5-7 minutes, until the internal temperature of each drumstick reaches 165 degrees F (about 30-35 minutes).
  4. Move the drumsticks to indirect heat and base them with your favorite BBQ sauce (we recommend an Alabama White BBQ Sauce).
  5. Grill for an additional 5-10 minutes on indirect heat until the sauce begins to caramelize, and the internal temperature reaches 175 degrees F.
